Projects & Inspiration

Family Tree

My client wanted to surprise her parents on their 40th anniversary, with a quilt displaying their family tree. The leaves are custom embroidered, hand appliquéd onto the custom designed tree, then finished with hand quilting. My client chose brights for her color theme.

Detail of Embroidery & Appliqué

The happy couple is celebrating their 40th year, and my client wanted the date of their wedded bliss embroidered on the tree trunk, and I also quilted a greeting into the area at the top of the quilt. A custom quilt means something different to everyone.

Detail of Quilting

The hand quilting on the trunk features a quilting line to each sibling, then to each grandchild. I then added a leaf shape around each name, and a leaf border around the outside of each leaf. More tree and leaf detail were needed the areas that had no appliqué in them, for a final touch.

Reproduction Sampler (Hand quilting service, 93″ x 93″)

This project was unique partially due to its size, however with sampler quilts, there is a high demand for creativity within each block. The lattice/sashing was also abundant, which featured egde stitching throughout the quilt.

Center Medallion

Very intense stitching here, to match the pattern the maker created.

Border & Edge Block

Featuring a row of ten different blocks on each side, for a total of 40, the outer row was quite time consuming. The border hosted a solid blue material, that I added a vine based leaf onto, which connected in the corners and at the half-way point on each side.

Wedding Monogram

This quilt was the bride and grooms wedding logo, hand appliqued and quilted. They used the back as a guest book at their wedding.
